THE DAY I MET BOBBY SHERMAN - August 25, 2001

Back when I was 12 years old, I was Bobby Sherman's biggest fan. I was so lucky to have seen him in concert on June 6, 1971 at Massey Hall in Toronto, Canada. I will never forget that concert as long as I live. I had great seats. I was in the third row. I had some flowers for Bobby that I was just dying to give to him. There were security guards up at the stage. At one point during the concert, Bobby had the audience on their feet and absolutely screaming (actually, that happened during most of the show). Well, being the brave soul that I was, as well as very determined, I decided to duck under the guard's arms and run up to the stage. Bobby saw me holding the flowers, leaned down and took the flowers from my hands. At that point I wasn't going to just let him get away. I yanked on his arm to pull him down towards the edge of the stage. He kneeled down and kissed me on my left cheek while accepting my flowers. At that point, it was just Bobby and I. I was in total awe of this man and found myself in tears. Bobby made me the happiest 12-year-old girl there. That was my fabulous experience getting up close and personal with Bobby. By the way, I didn't wash that left cheek for six days. No Joke!

Let's roll forward to August 25, 2001. I attended the Lincoln Park, Rhode Island Teen Idol Concert with Bobby Sherman and Peter Noone. I had the second, most amazing experience of my life when I was informed by Kathi Hoffman that I will be one of the lucky girls to have a Meet & Greet with Bobby before the concert. You can't imagine my excitement at the prospect. What do I wear, what do I say, the whole nine yards.

The Meet & Greet girls were escorted upstairs of the Lincoln Race Track at about 8:30 p.m. I had no idea what to expect. We were brought to this room with only a few people there. Of course, I expected Bobby to make some sort of a grand entrance to meet us all. There were about 10 of us. Much to my amazement, I walk in the room and there HE was. I let out the loudest gasp I think I've ever done. Bobby Sherman was in the same room as me, merely a few feet away. Here I was, 43 years old, with tears of joy streaming down my face. I truly felt like a teenager again. My legs were weak and I was shaking. I decided to be the last one to meet Bobby so that I could just run around frantically and take pictures of Bobby meeting everyone else. Then it was my turn. I had brought him a couple of Canadian souvenirs to remind him that he has Canada wrapped around his little finger. I gave him a neat Canada scarf and a cute teddy bear that plays the Canadian National Anthem. I hope he liked them. Quite frankly, I couldn't believe that I was speaking to him. I can't tell you what we talked about since that is a complete blur. I had him sign a few things for me then had some pictures taken with him. As we were saying our good-byes, I gave him a huge kiss on the cheek. I asked him if he wouldn't mind giving me a kiss on my right cheek, to go along with the one he gave me 30 years ago on my left cheek. He graciously obliged. What an extraordinary man. I shall never forget that meeting with Bobby. He made me feel like the world stopped for just the two of us and he gave me all of his attention. WOW! I should have known from what all the other fans told me that Bobby hasn't changed a bit. He is still the most wonderful and gorgeous man that I could have hoped to meet. Thank you, Bobby, for making this 43 year old fan young again and taking me back to a much simpler and saner time of life. Miracles do happen and mine happened on August 25, 2001 when I met Bobby Sherman face-to-face. You're my dream come true.

After our meeting, the Meet & Greet girls were all taken back to our seats in the stands. Moments later, there he was, making an entrance fit for a King. Bobby made his way through all of his adoring fans to the stage, stopping all along the way to hug and kiss his fans. Once he was on stage, the concert began. What a voice. Bobby has certainly not lost the class or sex appeal that drew me to him 30 years ago. He can still sing like a bird and make my heart go pitter-patter. I felt timeless. There I was, 30 years later, watching, screaming and crying, like a 12 year old again and singing along to all of Bobby's hits. What a body! What a man.! Does he ever look sexy up on that stage.

Soon, Bobby was saying so long to his fans and thanking them for coming. He was whisked away in a limo and gone from sight. It was truly a day to remember.

To Bobby, thanks for the memories!

To all the Bobby Babes that I met that weekend, what an experience and what an awesome bunch of girls you are. You all welcomed this Canadian newcomer with open arms and gave me lasting friendships that will stay with me forever. Thanks to one and all!

Love
Cindy
