A Day On The Set Of
Here Come The Brides (Part 4)
by Bridget Hanley

SNYNOPSIS: After you have spent the entire morning with Bobby Sherman, me - and all the rest of the wonderful cast of Here Come The Brides - the clock strikes 1 P.M. and it's lunch time! I've invited you and Bobby to be my special guests for lunch, and now we're on our way to the parking lot where beautiful Bobby is waiting for us!

Bobby Sherman - 16 Magazine - April 1970"Come on, girls - I'm starving!" Bobby calls to us from his midnight blue Rolls Royce. And that's when you realize that you'll actually be getting a ride in Bobby's "pride and joy." You can't help but notice how clean and shiny Bobby keeps his car. It's his most prized possession and no matter how busy he may be - he always finds time to care for his Rolls Royce!

We hop into the car and you get to sit up front - right next to Bobby! I really don't mind sitting in the back seat and besides - you're the special guest! I don't have to tell Bobby what restaurant to drive to, cos he already knows. We're taking you to our favorite place for lunch - the Yankee Pedlar Inn. It's just a few minutes drive from the ranch and they have great food. Bobby and I are still in costume for Brides, cos there isn't enough time to change for lunch and then change back again for the afternoon's shooting. The people who work at the Yankee Pedlar are used to seeing Bobby and me in costume, but some of the customers are a little confused by our outfits. I guess they think we're wearing some new style gear!

Bobby ShermanOUR "YUMMY" LUNCH - Bobby has his own special table in the restaurant and that's just where we are going to sit today. It's a corner table, located in a more private section of the restaurant. The waiter leads us to Bobby's table and seats us. You sit between Bobby and me - so that we both can talk with you! Bobby has already made up his mind what he wants to eat - a big glass of fresh orange juice, sizzling pancakes and sausages. It sounds so yummy that you and I decide we want the very same thing - so Bobby orders for the three of us!

Between eating our lunch and joking with all of the other members of the Brides gang who stop by our table to say "hi" - the hour seems to fly by. Before we realize it, it's time to pile back into Bobby's car and head for the Screen Gems ranch - and back to work!

HECTIC FRIDAY - For some reason, the afternoons seem to move at a faster pace and the time seems to pass more quickly than the morning. I guess that's cos everyone's really wide awake by now! Since today is Friday - it's even more hectic than usual! You see, it takes a full week of shooting (from Monday through Friday) to film just one episode of Here Come The Brides. In other words, we film a new one-hour show each week. And because this is Friday afternoon, we must complete the taping of this particular show today! But don't you worry - there'll still be lots of laughs and time to chat between scenes. That's the great thing about working on this show. The Brides cast is really like one big, happy family! We get along so well that working is more fun than a job! We're happy to have you along today and I kinda feel that you fit right into our happy family!

YOU JOIN IN THE FUN! - During the rest of the afternoon, you realize that you no longer feel at all nervous. On the contrary, you now feel very relaxed and natural as you discuss recipes with Susan Tolsky and me; share a conversation with Robert Brown and David Soul about California; tell little Patti and Eric about your home town; laugh with beloved "Clancy"; and plan jokes with Bobby to play on the rest of the gang!

When the last scene is finished and the clock strikes seven o'clock, you're sad cos the day has come to an end and you must soon say "good-bye" to everyone - or so you think! But Bobby and I are not going to let you get away so soon! Remember, today is Friday - and there's something very special about Fridays on the Brides' set!

YOUR LUCKY DAY! - Every Friday evening, after we complete another episode of Here Come The Brides, the entire cast and crew of the show get together for a "wrap-up" party. And needless to say - you are invited to our little celebration! Bobby usually has to catch a plane on Friday evening, cos he's busy making personal appearances all across the country almost every weekend. But today is your lucky day! Bobby doesn't have to rush out to the airport - he'll be staying for the party too!

You come with me to my dressing room, while I change from "Candy Pruitt" to "Bridget Hanley." This gives us a chance to have our last private girl-talk together, and it also gives the crew some time to set up the refreshments for the party that will take place right on the set - in Lottie's saloon!

BOBBY & "THE MYSTERY MAN" - Suddenly there's a knock at the door. When I open it, Bobby comes walking in. He's no longer dressed as "Jeremy Bolt" and from the look in your eyes - I can tell you think Bobby Sherman is even better looking! He's wearing a bright purple crepe shirt; black bell bottoms, black leather boots, and that beautiful smile of his!

"I have the evening all planned," Bobby says with a twinkle in his bright blue eyes - looking directly at you. "You are going to be my date for the party and I found the perfect guy to escort Bridget! In fact, he's waiting right outside for us!"

I can tell you are thrilled beyond words that Bobby chose you to be his date for the evening, but you and I are puzzled about the "mystery date" Bobby arranged for me.

"You're up to something, aren't you, Bobby?" I ask him still confused. "How could you get me a date when I'm a happily married girl?"

"Don't ask so many questions, Bridget - just trust me," Bobby grins. "Just follow me and my date - and I'll introduce you to a great guy!"

What does Bobby have up his sleeve and who is the mysterious man he wants me to meet? For the answers to these questions - and your party date with Bobby Sherman - be sure to pick up a copy of the May issue of 16! It goes on sale March 26!!
