How Colors Affect Me!
Hi Babe,
Sometimes I wish I could write this column once a week instead of once a month because I have so many things I want to tell you! My mind just whips around from topic to topic and I want to send you telegrams and postcards and long letters saying, "This is what I'm thinking right now and I want you to dig it too!"
I guess the studio would get a little upset if I started wiring off messages to you all the time but it's a fun idea to play with, isn't it?
COLORS AND FEELINGS - I've been sitting here staring at the typewriter and realizing how many, many different colors there are in the world. For instance, I'm using white paper with a blue carbon and a bright yellow paper underneath. The typewriter is blue but the keys are white with black markings. Funny but when I type on the white paper, I feel very organized and official. The blue carbon makes me feel very somber but the yellow paper just makes me want to rock out!
My typewriter is blue because when I bought it, I wanted something that would make me feel serious and thoughtful. See what I mean? I bet if you wrote me a letter on yellow or red paper, it would be much more lively and carefree than one you wrote on purple or brown stationery.
HOW THEY AFFECT ME - That brings me to how colors affect me in general. I guess the most important thing in the world is people and people wear different colors, right? Well, I find that I have certain reactions to different colors on people and I bet you do too.
I like to wear blue because my eyes are blue and a blue shirt makes them stand out. But blue also makes me feel romantic and I like looking happy, chipper and carefree.
When I meet a girl who's wearing a very light beige color, I tend to treat her as if she were fragile and in need of protection. I guess that's because that color is a delicate shade and I automatically think the girl must be the same.
COLORS AND GIRLS - Girls who wear purples and deep blues and dark greens are the solid types, I think. To me, a girl who wears those colors always gets my awe, respect and sometimes fear because I know that here's a girl who can take care of herself and does!
White on girls is very official, maybe because I think of dental assistants and nurses. The only time I don't think of white as being a little sober and stuffy is when it's white lace, yards and yards of frilly, delicate lace. Then I think of the movie, "Elvira Madigan," and I fall in love immediately!
The color of a girl's hair is important to me, though I really don't have any favorites. I think of blondes as being light and carefree, a California-girl type even if she's from Massachusetts! Brunettes are serious and romantic to me. I could marry a brunette! Redheaded girls seem so special to me that I'm almost afraid of them! Isn't that something?
ARTIFICIAL COLORS - I think the thing I probably hate most about some girls is artificial hair colors. Ugh! Yeeck! These turn me off.
If I see a girl coming at me who has neatly bleached all the color out of her hair until it's that silver-white washed-out look, I feel like running the other way. Everyone gets white hair soon enough!
I also detest poorly bleached blondes. Their hair often turns bright green in California if they go swimming in a pool with too much chlorine! I think dark roots are hideous too. And artificial reds...well, I won't even talk about them. If your hair is like that, change it before you meet me! I think all girls are beautiful until they ruin themselves with bad hair color. Don't you agree?
Oooooops...I'm running out of space.
I'll just add...until we're together,
Love, Bobby |
