Join Wes, Susan and Me for a Party!

Bobby Sherman and Wes Stern - Getting TogetherWorking on my new television series has been a wonderful experience for me. The cast and crew are really something else. One thing I'm thankful to "Getting Together" for is that I've gained two friends that I hope will last forever: one is Wes Stern, and the other Susan Neher!

These two have really become "special" people in my life, so I decided to devote my column this month to talking about why I feel this way. After all, Susan has been writing about ME every month - so it's about time I did the same for HER!

There's so many great things that I could say about Susan. She's talented, smart, fun to laugh and joke around with, and good to talk things over with too. I never had a little sister, but being with Susan has enabled me to see what it would be like to really be a big brother. It's fun helping her with little problems, giving her advice, buying her presents and even teasing her a little. I guess all brothers have to tease their younger sisters once in a while.

Just as I could go on and on about Susan, I could also go on endlessly about Wes. Our tours together, our long days working on the set, our discussions about our show, the business, and our own lives, our constant joking around - these are all things that will never be forgotten. Wes is a good friend - the kind you want to keep.

Bobby Sherman and Susan Neher - Getting TogetherLast Saturday I decided to throw a little party for Susan and Wes to show them how happy I am to be their friend. It was very informal - just the three of us. I want to tell you all about it, because I wish you could have been there too!

The evening started with a tour of the house and an introduction to Goofy and Wally. Of course they took an instant liking to Susan and Wes. In fact, Goofy and Wally liked them so much that they wouldn't leave them alone! I don't think Susan and Wes minded at all, even though they were anxious to see the house. Goofy and Wally are just too irresistible.

After the tour we sat and talked and ate some refreshments prepared by yours truly. Then we took time out to watch "Getting Together." We kept remembering funny little incidents that happened when we were filming that segment, and we were constantly breaking out into hysterical laughter. It's really fun watching the show weeks after you've made it with the people who were right beside you at the time. Little did we know then that weeks later we'd be watching that show together and laughing about all the things we went through in the process of doing it.

Long after the show ended, when we finally stopped laughing and thinking back, I took them into my screening room, where I had some entertainment planned. But first they looked at some of my antiques again, including the antique gum machine given to me for my birthday by the Laufer Company Editors. I finally pulled them away so I could get on with the show. I ran a film of "The Brothers Grimm." I served popcorn and candy so they would feel as though they were in a real movie theater. They seemed to enjoy it a great deal.

MY FAVORITE PROJECT - I really enjoy showing films - especially for an audience like Wes and Susan. Turning my den into a projection room was one of my favorite projects when I was fixing up my house. Susan and Wes made me feel really proud of the results.

After the film we talked for about another hour. I think the three of us could have talked all night long without getting bored with one another's company. But it was getting very late, so Wes and Susan said a long goodbye to Goofy and Wally and were on their way.

All in all it was a groovy evening. I hope to have Susan and Wes over again very soon. Just think - if it wasn't for "Getting Together" bringing the three of us together, I could have never had this get together. Hey - maybe something will bring YOU and me together some day, and I'll be having YOU over for a little Saturday night party.

I'll be waiting, Babe.
