Manitowoc Concert

Hot Time In February!

I won't bore you all with the horrible four hour drive up there in the snow and freezing rain.  But I will tell you that if we weren't headed for that beautiful blue eyed hunk, we would have turned back.  We didn't care that it was 5 degrees out and cars were going off the highway into the ditch...Bobby was at the end of the rainbow!!   The only thing we were concerned about was if Bobby was going to make it safely into town.  Chris and I had arranged a lunch before the concert on Saturday at Applebee's.  There were about 20 people there...some old friends and some great new ones.  In attendance were four of the M&G winners, Bobbi, Cherie, Dana, and Rita.   They were so nervous and giddy.  It was fun to listen to them because most of us there had been in that situation before and we knew how they felt.  This was an extra special day for Bobbi because in addition to meeting Bobby, it was her birthday!   After a couple hours of swapping Bobby stories and sharing pictures, we left the restaurant to make ourselves especially beautiful for the concert...which for me is no easy task!

Several of us waited outside the theater for two hours in a van for Bobby to arrive.   But we needed that extra time to practice exiting the van and skating down the icy sidewalk to the stage door without killing ourselves!  When it got to be less than a half hour before concert time, we were beginning to think we had missed him somehow.   We were just about to go into the theater when I spotted a stretch white limo coming down the street.  I yelled to the others "THIS IS NOT A DRILL"!!   We flew out of the van and down the icy sidewalk just in time to see Bobby emerged from the limo in his concert outfit...no coat, no scarf...NOTHING!  I swear if I had Bobby's mother's phone number, I would have called her and told on him!  I game him a hug and I don't know if I warmed him up at all, but I certainly felt warm and fuzzy all over!!  I had a poster that I wanted him to sign, but I took pity on him since it was 5 degrees out, so I just gave him a short lecture about not wearing a coat and having the top two buttons of his shirt unbuttoned (YUM, by the way) and told him "get in there, it's cold out!!"  Of course he looked wonderful, sexy, handsome and fabulous in his white sequined shirt, but I was a little disappointed that it wasn't the royal blue one.  Sorry Mindy and Wendy!  But I think he's probably saving it for a concert where he knows you both will be there.  He was also wearing the sexy black leather pants.  Yes, I also like the silver ones (because they really show off certain assets...if you know what I mean!!  LOL!!), but I do prefer the black ones.  Did I mention how great he smelled?  Oh, how could I have forgotten that?!?!?!  I got a major face full of Polo when I hugged him (mmmmmmmmmmm!).   After he went in the stage door, we turned to see the van with every door flung wide open, keys still in the ignition, with all of our purses and camera equipment on the seats...oh THAT was real smart girls!  Guess we should have also practiced locking the doors!!  LOL!!

So, how for the performance.  He was in rare form.  He seemed to really be enjoying himself.  I wasn't sure if he'd be thrilled to be in the midwest in February...lord knows WE weren't, but he looked like he was having the best time!  At one point he ran from one end of the stage to the other...I never figured out why (LOL!), but maybe it was because he had so much energy!  The theater was packed and we were wild, and I think/hope that we pumped him up.  He sang beautifully, joked around a lot and gave the best performance I've ever seen.  And then all too soon he got to the best and worst part of the show...where he sings Julie.  It's the best because it's one of my favorite songs and I can't tell you how much I love when he stops singing and asks "Ladies, will you still be there?"  Oh, Bobby, you know we will...but thanks for asking!!  But it's also the worst part of the show because it's the last song we'll hear him sing for months.  Guess we have to take the good with the bad, huh!  He picked up all his beautiful flowers and stuff animals, which included the red and white Valentines teddy bear that said "I Love You" all over it that I gave him, and an adorable Snoopy dressed in a police uniform.  And then he was gone, leaving us to long for July 4th in Hershey.  I know he'll be great, but I don't see how he could be any hotter than he was on this February day!
